Rabies

On 29 May 2026 health authorities reported detection of rabies in a dog in Vittorio Veneto, Italy. The dog had been imported illegally from Morocco. Authorities announced mandatory rabies vaccination for all dogs and cats in the municipality.

Avoid touching animals (dogs, monkeys, bats). Wash any bite or scratch for 15 minutes and seek urgent care — a pre-travel vaccine simplifies treatment.
