Diphtheria

On 15 October 2026, the US Embassy and Consulate in Morocco stated that on 28 September 2026, the Ministry of Health of Morocco reported a small diphtheria outbreak, with clusters in multiple regions in Morocco. Health teams are tracing contacts and providing preventive treatment and vaccines.

Rabies

On 29 May 2026 health authorities reported detection of rabies in a dog in Vittorio Veneto, Italy. The dog had been imported illegally from Morocco. Authorities announced mandatory rabies vaccination for all dogs and cats in the municipality.
