Hantavirus

As of 25 April 2026, 101 confirmed cases of hantavirus infection and 32 deaths have been reported in Argentina during the 2025/2026 season. Cases have been reported in the following provinces: Buenos Aires, Salta, Santa Fe, Chubut, Río Negro, Entre Ríos and Jujuy. Please see UKHSA guidance for more details on hantavirus.

Chikungunya
Reported 17 March 2026Spread by mosquito bites
As of 16 March 2026, a total of 2,701 chikungunya cases have been reported in Argentina since July 2025. Out of 103 confirmed or probable cases, 63 were locally acquired and 40 cases had a history of travel to either Bolivia, Brazil, Cuba or Paraguay.

Mpox
Reported 17 March 2026Spread by close or bodily-fluid contact
As of 16 March 2026, one mpox clade Ib case was reported in Argentina in an adult with no recent travel abroad, but a history of sexual contact with multiple people including travellers, in the period before onset of symptoms. This is the first locally acquired case of mpox clade Ib reported in Argentina.

Avoid close skin-to-skin contact with anyone who has a rash or lesions, and contact with wild animals; wash hands often.
Zika

As of 1 November 2025, a total of 720 cases of Zika virus disease have been reported in Argentina during 2025.

Avoid daytime mosquito bites. If you're pregnant or planning pregnancy, discuss travel with us first, and use condoms as Zika can pass sexually.
Dengue
Reported 03 November 2025Spread by mosquito bites
As of 19 October 2025, a total of 17,689 dengue cases have been reported in Argentina during 2025. Case numbers peaked in May 2025 and show a decrease in numbers compared to 2024. Serotypes DENV-1, DENV-2 and DENV-3.

Spread by daytime-biting mosquitoes. Use a DEET repellent, cover up, and stay somewhere with screens or air-conditioning.
Argentine haemorrhagic fever

As of 13 September 2025, a total of 373 suspected cases of Argentine haemorrhagic fever (AHF) and 49 confirmed cases, including three deaths, have been reported in Argentina in 2025. Confirmed cases have been reported in Buenos Aires, Cordoba and Santa Fe. Please see UKHSA guidance on AHF for further details.
