Dengue

As of 6 August 2026, a total of 17,880 dengue cases (59 deaths) have been reported in Bangladesh during 2026. Dhaka division has reported the highest number of cases, followed by Barishal, Chattogram and Khulna divisions.

Spread by daytime-biting mosquitoes. Use a DEET repellent, cover up, and stay somewhere with screens or air-conditioning.
Measles

As of 5 May 2026, a total of 5,467 confirmed measles cases and 41,793 suspected cases with 259 deaths have been reported in Bangladesh for 2026.

Nipah virus
Reported 09 February 2026Reduce your risk while travelling
On 6 February 2026, one confirmed fatal Nipah virus disease case was reported in Bangladesh for 2026. This case had no history of travel abroad, but had drunk raw date palm sap. No further cases have been detected; all contacts are being monitored and have tested negative. Bangladesh first reported Nipah virus disease in 2001 and infections have been reported almost every year since, with four confirmed cases in 2025. Risk of international spread is low.

Chikungunya

Between 1 January and 31 August 2025, the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research in Bangladesh have reported a total of 732 suspected cases of chikungunya in Dhaka. Of these, 400 cases were laboratory-confirmed.
