Measles

As of 13 July 2026, a total of 144 confirmed measles cases have been reported in the Maldives for 2026, with 141 cases reported between May and July 2026. This outbreak is concentrated in the Greater Malé Area, with one case each reported from Addu City, Alif Alif Atoll, Himandhoo Island and Ozen Reserve Bolifushi Resort.

Zika

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), have confirmed a case of Zika virus in a traveller who had returned from the Maldives in February 2026.

Avoid daytime mosquito bites. If you're pregnant or planning pregnancy, discuss travel with us first, and use condoms as Zika can pass sexually.
Dengue
Reported 29 June 2026Spread by mosquito bites
As of 1 June 2026, 2,969 cases of dengue have been reported in the Maldives since the start of 2026. This represents an increase compared to the same period in previous years. The ECDC have also reported at least 107 imported cases into Europe from the Maldives since 2025. Recent data shows a declining trend in these imported cases since spring 2026.
